จุดเด่น 1.วิหารไม้สักทอง เป็นวิหารที่งดงามที่สุดในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ แต่เดิมคือหอคำ (ที่ประทับ) ของพระเจ้ามโหตรประเทศภายในประดิษฐานพระประทานในวัด เป็นวิหารไม้เก่าที่ยังคงสวยงามและรักษาความเป็นเอกลักษณ์แบบล้านนาได้เป็นอย่างดี
2. ศาลาหลวงพ่อโต เป็นอีกสถานที่ซึ่งชาวเชียงใหม่ให้ความเคารพแวะเวียนมากราบไหว้อยู่เสมอ หากนักท่องเที่ยวมีโอกาสมาชมวิหารไม่สักทอง อย่าลืมกราบไหว้ขอพรจากหลวงพ่อโตเพื่อความเป็นสิริมงคล
ความเป็นมา แต่เดิมตามหลักฐานวัดแห่งนี้มีชื่อว่า “วัดพันเท่า” เป็นเขตสังฆวาสของวัดเจดีย์หลวง ได้รับการฟื้นฟูสมัยพระเจ้ากาวิละอินทรวิชยานนท์ เจ้าหลวงเชียงใหม่ องค์ที่ 7 โปรดให้รื้อหอคำของพระเจ้ามโหตรประเทศมาสร้างเป็นวิหารดังเช่นในปัจจุบัน
